International Volunteer Day
Wednesday 5th December 2018 marks International Volunteer Day. It is an opportunity for volunteers, and volunteer organisations, to raise awareness of volunteering. The act of volunteering is found in all cultures, languages, and religions. Each year, hundreds of millions of people volunteer their time and skills to help make the world a better place. When they volunteer they help to improve the lives of others.
On 5th December 2018, people around the world will be volunteering and our Heroes team will be raising awareness of the homeless. As part of ‘Heroes Helping the Homeless’ our Heroes will be delivering food and clothing donations to our local homeless shelter, on this day. From 26th November, the Heroes will be collecting donations of food and clothing from the staff and students at The Halley Academy.
This project will be led by the Lead Heroes and they will announce this in small school assemblies next week. A reminder of the Y10 Lead Heroes: Naomi Ndgimabote, Kemi Akinbami, Javina Muirhead, Sophie Smith and Darren Zingoula.
