Primary Dance Festival
Children from Henwick, Charlton Manor and South Rise Primary schools gave a magnificent performance to each other, their families and teachers at The Halley Primary Dance Festival.
Halley dance teachers have been working with primary schools since February. The theme of the project was a ‘Journey into the Imagination’ and what a journey we embarked on. The aim of the project was to motivate children to want to dance and perform through connecting movement to real and imagined scenarios, to become explorers of their imagination.
The students worked very hard and it was fantastic to see how they had progressed not only in dance technique, but their teamwork and performance skills. Our dance leaders helped the staff on performance day, leading and assisting in last minute rehearsals as well as performing themselves. The children were lucky to meet Moses, an ex-student who is currently studying contemporary dance at Laban. He also performed an impressive solo and received a standing ovation.
A wonderful high-octane day. Congratulations to all those involved.
